After wrapping up the Architecture study at the TU-Delft, October 1992, I started at Kraaijvanger • Urbis as a designer/ technologist. The Rotterdam firm consisted of about 80 employees and was active since the 1930's. I was part of a team that created amazing buildings that were detailed to the level of tile layouts. I worked for them for about 5 1/2 years.

During the years at Kraaijvanger • Urbis I worked on a diverse array of buildings. A large Shopping mall, Offices, Theaters, a Penitentiary institution, a Hotel, 7 hubs of the Dutch postal services, a large exposition / congress Centre and Sports arena (Rotterdam Ahoy)

During my study in Delft I had worked, 2 to 4 days a week, from 1988 to 1991, for ABG developments, a Rotterdam based firm with about 30 employees. As Architect assistant/designer my job was to assist in designing buildings and sites, that were highly efficient, economical, functional and appealing.

The Canadian & Provincial Buildings Codes became more and more complicated over the last 40 years and they change about every 5 years. Local Bylaws are similar but different everywhere. The application procedures are consuming more and more time. The Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Geo-technical, Seismic, Environmental, Archeological, Access and Energy requirements became more stringent with every new building code and now require experts. As Time = Money and to go through the process of conception, initiation and creation (Building) in a most efficient way, a (Coordinating) Architect is highly recommended or mandatory. Even occupancy changes are becoming so much more complicated that basically a code expert (Architect) is required to get through a Building Permit Application.

I offer full architectural services and provide my clients with a comprehensive solution that meets their needs. This includes; Rezoning coordination and application, Development Permit coordination and application. Building Permit documentation, application and coordination, Tender, Contract administration and finally closeout. 3D BIM technology is used to generate drawing and documentation packages throughout the project. Adjustment to the design will therefore be handled simultaneously in Plan, Elevation, Section, Schedules, Specifications and 3D imagery. I make use of drone technology to explore site opportunities and to provide imagery and renderings during a project.
